Ski Pole Builder + Events and Shop Customer Service. Part or full-time.

Grass Sticks is hiring! You’ll split your time between building custom ski poles in our Steamboat Springs shop and providing top-notch customer service and sales support both in-store and at events. Other responsibilities in marketing and small business management are possible. Most events are day trips within driving distance, but occasional expense-paid overnight trips may also be included, which often involve skiing for fun.

We are hiring for part-time and full-time positions; some weekends required.

Hours & Schedule

• Weekday and weekend workshop/storefront shifts plus staffing weekend events.

• Part-time positions are a minimum of 18 hours per week. Full-time positions are 38-40 hours per week.

• Flexible schedule that allows plenty of time to ski.

• Most events are day trips within driving distance, but occasional expense-paid overnight trips may also be included, which often involve skiing for fun.

Pay & Benefits

• $21–$27/hour starting pay, depending on skills & experience.

• Driving time is paid at $14/hr.

• Raises are possible after 40 hours based on performance.

• Access to pro deals and the occasional expense-paid ski trip.

• Part-time PTO/sick pay, up to 48 hours/year. Accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked.

• Full-time benefits, in addition to all the above:

  • 10 days PTO. This is in addition to the 48 hours above! Increases to 14 days after 1 year.

  • 7 paid holidays

  • Full Ikon Pass or equivalent-value bonus

  • Flexible unpaid time off outside of our busy winter season. Extended unpaid time off may reduce eligibility for certain benefits.

Duties

• Sand, cut, and process bamboo.

• Operate power tools and saws.

• Apply clear coats to finished poles.

• Assemble ski poles and fulfill both customer and wholesale orders.

• Work directly with customers in our shop and at events, guiding them through the custom pole-building process.

• Sales & product demos with a focus on creating stoked, satisfied customers.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to lift heavy bundles (50 lbs).

• Work outdoors in variable weather.

• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.

• Working with your hands, making and building things, general labor, and ski industry experience are a plus.

• Reliable transportation to our shop at 1804 13th Street, Steamboat Springs.
